Circular Bolero Jacket I made from itty-bittys.blogspot.com; I used 9 skeins Bernat Handicrafter Cotton (1.75 oz, 50 g) & size J Clover hook, Jan 7, 2012 -1.jpg

This was a fun pattern to make. It's the first time I've made any type of clothing item.

On my first attempt, I was thinking that I needed to enlarge the pattern somewhat. I completed the bolero and it was so wide across the back that it didn't fit correctly. The proportions were all wrong.

Toooooo big (what was I thinking???).  I eventually ripped this out and started over on the finished item (pictures below):

I then pulled the whole thing out and remade it following the directions exactly this time. It came out like the picture and it fits pretty well now.

Starting over; 2nd attempt .....

If you decide to try this one, it's easy to make and can be found at link removed!!). Look for the pattern, Round Vest (no sewing) (this is a Google Chrome web browser translation).

**Update:  I removed this link as it is now a porn website.  My jaw just about dropped open.  Apologies to everyone who clicked this link as I have no idea how long this offensive link has been going on.

For the corrected version, I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton yarn (1.75 oz skeins / 50 g), and my size J Clover crochet hook.  Pictured is an "I" hook, but I ended up using my "J" hook:

Oh Happy Day!!!!  I think I'm "hooked" on these circular boleros, jackets, vests ... whatever they are!  :)  :)

Good luck. :)    :)

  1. It looks great on you! Those circular boleros and shrugs tend to make my behind look big, but I might just give this one a try. Thanks for sharing the pattern!

Btw, your blog's photo collage looks great!

  5. Hi Lee Ann,
Thank you so much for sharing this pattern! Could you tell e how much the back rectangle is supposed to measure? I don't want to make the same mistake. Thank you so much! Michele

  6. Hi, Princesse,
I will have to measure it but if I recall, the rectangle part on the back was approximately 9 x 10 inches (10 inches being vertically from north to south). Hope this helps you out and good luck on yours. :). Thanks for visiting my blog.

  17. The pattern referenced was at a blog which has been taken down, so I do not have the pattern not was it mine to give.
However, here are three links from the comments above which may help you. The patterns would have to be adapted for different sizes:
